ANNUAL CONFERENCE.

[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 17. The Waterside Workers’ Conference continued to-dav. A motion was passed, urging the Government to take over tho Lyttelton to Wellington ferry sendee. A motion was also passed, urging the Government to make better provision for inspection of ships’ gear, and that all chain gear be inspected and stamped 1 at least every six months. The delegates urged the Government to re-enact clause 5 of the original Arbitration Act, allowing two employers or seven workers to form employers’ or workers’ unions respectively. The last -amendment to tlio Act increased the numbers to 3 and 15 respectively. Another resolution affirmed the principle of cribtime, and that workers should be paid their, wages in the employers’ time. ■
