THE IMPROVED FARMS SCHEME. fPicn V kf.sb Association. l WELLINGTON, August 17. The Hon. D. Buddo, Acting-Minister of Lands, informed a “Times"’ reporter that the whole of the 400 sections to be opened up in connection with the improved farm settlements’ scheme are now readv for application. There are 100 in Wellington, 120 in Taranaki, and ISO in Auckland province. The regulations governing leases will be made more liberal than previously. No rent, will be required for 18 months after the usual period, so that persons taking sections will thus 113.T6 ut least «*•! months’ grace before being called upon, to pay rent. Residence will be insisted upon,' and no lease will be granted till after the first rent is paid, thus preventing transfers. As a matter of fact, the regulations provide that even after a lease is issued no transfer will be granted where profit is shown in_ the transactions. “I have had many imormal applications,” the Minister remarked, “from the country, and a considerable number from residents in the city of Wellington. These must all apply to the Crown Lands Commissioners or the districts in which the sections they desire are situated.
