Greece’s reply to the Porte is conciliatory, and promises'to entirely coniform to the decisions of the protecting Powers and to abstain from encouraging any agitation in Crete. Mutinous militiamen hoisted the Greek flag on the fort- at the entrance of Candia harbor, and threatened to shoot tho' Greek officers for objecting, but later were persuaded to return to their barracks. Subsequently, at the Cretan Government’s instance, in order to prevent international occupation, : the i Governor lowered the flag unopposed. ■ . ' ■■
