NOTICE OF MOTION BY MR. MAODONALD.
'Hie following notice of motion for the next meeting of tho Harbor Board has been lodged by Mr. W. D. S. MacDonald, M.P.. . . . "That the Board obtain plans and estimates for the extension of tho present - breakwater, either by open pile work or other means, as may bo advised, to the required length to limit the range, which, it is admitted, is at present a grave danger to navigatlo"Note A.—The time has arrived when the Board must recognise the serious responsibility which rests upon it owing to the absolute risk of life involved under present conditions, which those in conveying passengers to and from our roadstead are unable j to control. , j i "Note B. —As matters are at present, 1 it is obvious that tho new dredge on its arrival will be unable to give tho satisfactory result which is anticipated and desired by this Board. "Note C.—When the plans and estimates have been considered bv the Marine Department, the Board can consider the ways and means of carrying out the same.”
