A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Y.M.C.A. was held last night, when it was decided to extend a hearty invitation to visit Gisborne to Mr. J. .f Virgo, secretary of the Sydney Y.M.C.A., who is coming to New Zealand next month to be present at the .anniversary celebrations of the Wellington Association, and to take part at the Wellington conference. The secretary reported at the meeting that several removals had taken place, ,ano that the membership of the Association stood at 386. In view 'of the extension of work, the directors felt that, as land was not likely to get any cheaper, negotiations for a likely site for building purposes should be considered. Several minor matters were also dealt with. The Loyal Gisborne Dodge, M.U.I. O. F.,, held a most successful “pound night” after the conclusion of the Lodge meeting in the Masonic Hall evening. A capital programme was provided, songs being- given by MissesGray, Ivy Robertson, Thompson, Messrs McGibbon and Stenner. while Messrs R. Somervell and P. Schwabe contributed recitations, Mr. Barraclougli a clarionet solo, Mrs. Schwabe a piano solo, Mr. C. Goldsmith a comic song; and the Lodge glee party contributed a number of items. During the evening Permanent' Secretary Bro. A. Ambridge presented Bro. J. McConnell, P. with a Past Grand Master’s certificate.
