H.M.S. HANNIBAL SCRAPES A REEF. SEVERAL PLATES DAMAGED United Pkeiib Association —CopYiuam LONDON, August 22. The battleship Hannibal, executing a gun-laying test off Babbieombe, scraped a reef, and several plates were torn. The boiler-room and oil fuel storage tanks were flooded. The vessel was docked at Devonport. But for the high tide and that the .battleship was going at full speed, the damage would have been much greater. (Received August 23, 9.5 p.m.) LONDON, August 23. ■ The Hannibal’s repairs will occupy five months. ; ■ [H. M. S. Hannibal, which was launched in 1895, is a battleship of 14,900 tons, 10,000 horse power, 16 guns, and 17.5 knots speed.]
