A DIRECT ROUTE FROM ATLANTIC TO PACIFIC. | CJnitko PpEss Association-Copyright (Received August 23, 11.50 p.m.) PAYTA, August 23. The Peruvian Government has granted a German firm a provisional concession for the construction of a railway from Payta through the Andes to a navigable point of the river Amazon, near Iquitos, thus opening a direct route from the Pacific to the Atlantic coast of South America. The cost is estimated at three sterling.
