TWO DREADNOUGHTS TO BE LAID DOWN. TWO STILL LARGER SHIPS PROPOSED. TJjhvrh Pkkss Association —Copyright (Received August 23, 9.5 p.m.) * NEW YORK, August 23. Two American battleships, as cabled on 23rd January, are about to be laid down on the Delaware. They will have a speed of 20 knots, and will cost, with armament, including twelve 12-in guns, two million sterling each. It is reported that Mr. Meyer, Secretary of the Navy, proposes twelve 14-in guns for the two 30,000-ton ships which is is proposed to build.
