NAVY LEAGUE.
BRANCH! FORAIED IN GISBORNE
The Alayof (Air AV. D. Lysnar) presided over a meeting of gentlemen in the Borough Council Chambers yesterday afternoon to consider the advisability'of forming a Navy League. There wore present: Aiessrs J. Townley, J. R Kirk, AV. Miller, J. AV. J. Preston, F. Heron, Colonel Porter, C.B. Colonel Porter explained that it was desirable to form a League in Gisborne, the subscription being very low. A Junior League could also bo formed among the school children, as subscription of Is a year gave the juveniles many privileges. Air Kirk moved that a branch of the League, to he, affiliated with tho London League, be formed in Gisborne. The subscription to he fixed at 10s 6d for members and 5s for associate members. Air Preston seconded the motion, which was carried. Qn the motion of the Alayor, Colonel Porter was elected President of the League. Air Ivan B. Livick was appointed honorary secretary, and those present undertook to canvass for memoers of the League. It was decided to thank Air C. A. Palmer, of the, AVellington League, for his efforts!,in forming a League in Gisborne. The eight members of tlie provisional committee are: Colonel Porter, Air. J. Townley (chairman of the Harbor Board), -Aly. Av T . D. Lysnar (Alayor), Hon. Captain Tucker (chairman of the Cook County Council), Aiessrs J. R. Kirk, F. Heron, AV. Aliller, and J. AA r . J. Preston.
