DEPUTATION TO MR. GLADSTONE. PROMISE TO INVESTIGATE DISPUTE. United Puicss Association—Copyright LONDON, August 27. .Mr Gladstone, Home Secretary, informed a deputation of the Miners’ Federation of Britain that a 60-hours’ clause would not be inserted in the Eight Hours Act —merely an increase in the number of working hours per day. But to help matters in times of pressure he intended to admiir.ster the Act in the same spirit as it was passed. He would investigate the dispute submitted, and if it was found that the object of the Act was infringed he would put matters right.
