EIGHT HUNDRED LIVES LOST. WIDESPREAD DEVASTATION. (Received August 30, 10 p.m.), United Preps Association —Copyright MEXICO, August 30. The overflow of the rivers has caused enormous damage in Northern Mexico. Eight hundred person perished at Monterey alone, and 15,000 were rendered homeless. The damage is estimatd at 12 million dollars: Many, bridges and 100 miles of railway track in the States of Nuevo Leon and Coahuila were destroyed. The Mexico Smelting Lead, Company’s lossses are placed at three million dollars, and those of the Monterey Steel Company at one million dollars. Half the city of Monterey was inundated.
