The Government is assuredly doing its best to justify the widely-enter-tained belief that the _ appointment some months ago of a Timber Commission of pretentious size was a political sham involving complete waste of several thousands of pounds of the taxpayers’ money. That .any, serviceable ye-, suit will accrue from the investigations is hardly expected by the community, but it is certainly surprising that the Government, .which lias now had the report in its possession for two months, should not have conceived it to be its duty' long before this to communicate the results of the Commission’s inquiries to the public.—“Otago Daily, Timesi” j '
