DOMINION DAY CHURCH PARADE.
OBJECTION FROM MINISTERS AND SUNDAY SCHOOLS. rpmi Press "Association.! WELLINGTON, Sept. 3. A deputation representing the Wellington Ministers 1 Association and Sunday School Union waited on the Hou. G. Fowlds, as Acting-Minister of Defence, to protest against what was understood to be a- proposal to hold combined church services of volunteers and school cadets on Dominion Day, which this year falls on a Sunday, the argument being that such parades will materially interfere with attendance at Sunday schools. Mr. Fowlds said his express desire was to have recognition of the Sabbath in connection with Dominion Day observance. The arrangements were in the hands of the officers commanding the districts, but he had instructed, if objection were made to a combined service, that arrangements should be made for an ordinary church parade, the members of volunteers and cadet corps to assemble at their own churches.
