THE RARAWA ACCIDENT.
INQUIRY AT AUCKLAND. TPep. Press Association.! AUCKLAND, Sept, 3. The .Court inquiry opened tins morning in connection with the accident on the Northern Steamfship Company’s Rarawa, whereby material damage was done to the after boiler of the steamer, on May 27, on the voyage from Onehunga t-o New Plymouth. It was stated that the boiler became over-heated, owing to the shortness of water. The steamer, which at the time was carrying passengers, returned to Onehunga. The question was whether the accident was due to negligence or the wrongful act or default of any person on the vessel or elsewhere. These specially concerned are A. E. Mclndoe, first engineer; A. M. Price, second engineer ; and _R. Smallbonc, third engineer.
