RAILWAY APPEAL BOARD.
RESOLUTION OF ADDINGTON WORKSHOPS MEN. [Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 7. At a meeting of the Addington railway workshops employees held to-day, the following resolution was carried unanimously—“ That, seeing that the only direct means of redress which railway men have to rely upon has been practically taken from them by the Minister Vetoing the decisions of the Appeal Board, this meeting deems it unwise to nominate or elect a member to represent the workshops department on the said Board until such time as Parliament has had an opportunity of giving members of the service the full benefits intended by the Classification Act, by removing- t£e clause which enables the Minister to nullify the judgment of a tribunal which - should he entirely free from departmental interference.” The meeting endorsed the action of Mr. J. N. Jones in resigning from the AppeaL Board owing to the action of the Minister of Railways in vetoing the decision of the Board, and also decided to communicate with the Invercargill and Hillside workshops.
