SATURDAY’S MATCHES. The following matches under the auspices of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union, are to take' place at Victoria Domain on Saturday next, September 11th: Senior championship, ICaiti-City v. Makauri, No. 2 ground, 3 p.m.; junior championship, Makauri v. United, No. 1 ground, 1.45 p.m.; interclub challenge match, Napier Pirates v. Kaiti-City juniors, No. 1 ground, 3 p.m. ‘ The following will the Kaiti-City juniors against the Napier Pirates:—Full-back, Stubbs ; threequarters, O’Neill, Oman, Huston; fiveeighths, Hargreaves and Fromm; halfhack, Pollock ; forwards, Jackson (wing), Bristow, McKennie, Whitford, O’Neill, McConnell Roche, P. Hickey. Emergencies, Morell and E. Whitfield. The above-mentioned players are requested to meet at the Royal Hotel at 7.30 this evening for practice. • CHALLENGE MATCH. The annual match between the Gisborne Volunteer Fire Brigade and the Gisborne City Band takes place on -the Victoria Domain td-morrow afternoon. The team to represent the City Band is as follows:—Full-back, W. Dayman; three-quarters, Sebire, Miller, and A. Coleman ; five-eighths, Hooper and Anderson; half, G. Douglas; forwards, J. McConnell (wing, capt.), Murphy, Bean, Bragge, Radcliffe, Stevens, Donovan, and G. Wildish (junr.). Emergencies, W. Robertson and F. Quigley. The Fire Brigade team will be chosen from the following: —G. Wildish, Tate, A Beere, R. Wildish, J. Stewart, G. Peterson, L. Davey, D. Ferguson, J. Weston, A. Henderson, W. Fraser, G. Lapidge, J. The following is the team selected to represent New Zealand Lniversity against Sydney University at Wellington on Saturday next: —Full-back, Robinson (Auckland); three-quarters, Dansey (Otago), Onglev (Otago).. Duncan (Victoria College) ; five-eighths, Phillips (Wellington), O’Leary (Wellington); half, Otterson (Auckland); wing forward, Wilkes (Auckland)’; forwards, Williams (Canterbury), Watt (Otago), Curtayne (Wellington), De~ lamere (Wellington), Young (Canterbury), Bronan (Wellington), Seed (Otago). ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL. WANGANUI, Sept. 7. The Association football match between Auckland and Wanganui was played this afternoon, and was won by Auckland by three goals to one.
