POVERTY BAY HOCKEY ASSOCIATION. . . . The usual weekly meeting of the Poverty Bay Hockey Association was held in the Royal Hotel last evening. Present: Messrs G. K. Pasley (chairman), E. L. Maude, R. Johnston, Doyle, Olsen, Davy, and Roderick. It was resolved to adopt the Poverty Bay Rugby Union's standing orders for conduct of meetings, and a sub-com-mittee was appointed to deal with the matter. After hearing the referee’s explanation with regard to the City v. West End match, the following resolution was earned —“That no further action be taken with regard to the player ordered off the field; that the referee’s complaint with regard to an official protesting against his decision be received; and that, the referee’s resignation be accepted with regret, but tha he be asked to reconsider his.decision.’.’ ■ A letter was • received from tho, referee in the same match reporting a West End player for misconduct after the match. It was resolved to ask the player for an explanation as to what “ transpired. r ■■■ :'.V Correspondence from the New Zealand Hockey Association w r as read advising of the disqualification of players by the Manawatu, Canterbury, and Buller Associations, also with regard to the alteration of rule 4 of the New .Zealand Hockey Association’s rules, so as to provide that the New Zealand Association affiliates with the English Hockey Association. SCHOOL GIRLS’ MATCH. GISBORNE HIGH SCHOOL (2) v. HASTINGS (1). A match was played at the Domain yesterday between teams representing the Gisborne High School girls and the Hastings girls. After a good even game victory rested with the Gisborne girls by two goals to one. For Gisborne the goals were secured by Miss R. Malcolm and Miss M. Malcolm, while Miss Avis Thompson scored for Hastings. < Misses L. Taylor. A. Thompson, M. Thompson, and E. Apperley played best for the visitors, and for the home team good form was shown by Misses N. Harper, D. Miller, and Malcolm (2). The visiting girls were the guests of the Te Huia girls at a dance in Erskine’s Hall last night, and to-day will play a match against a team from the Gisborne Main School, at the Domain, this morning. GISBORNE CIVIL SERVICE TEAM DEFEATED AT HASTINGS. (Special to “Times.”) ", NAPIER, Sept. 7, The second and final match of the Gisborne Civil Service hockey tour ivas played to-day at Hastings, the weather being fine and the ground in good order.
