GISBORNE RACING CLUB

The following report will be presented to the annual meeting of the Gisborne Racing Club next "week:—“ln presenting the annual statement of figures for the consideration of members, it is again the committee’s pleasing duty to report upon a very suc'cessful result of the club’s operations. The*, balance-sheet presented by your treasurer discloses a healthy state of finance. During the year considerable improvements, at a cost of £2185 8s sd, have been effected, comprising the erection of a people’s stand, stewards’ stand, and extensive stabling, etc. The stakes have been increased by £55 over those of last year; depreciation has been allowed to the amount of £BO on the “old buildings” and plant, and a sum of £56 5s has been expended in the purchase of furniture, etc. The club possesses a property -which is undoubtedly., one of the finest in the Dominion. Retiring members-of committee, in accordance with ruler 9, are: Messrs E. Hall, T. Holden, F. J. Lysnar, J. H. Martin, J. Sisterson, and Hon. W. H. Tucker, ali iof whom are eligible for re-election. The progress of the club is evidenced by the increase in the number of members during the past year by 44. Members will mow total 106. The committee desires to thank the club’s honorary and paid officials for their careful attention to their respective duties during the past season.” The statement of accounts that a balance* of £653-,15s 8d was paid to tlie capital account during the year, bringing the latter account up to £5877 6s 7d. The cash balance totals £482 12s 7d. Receipts for the, summer meeting amqunted to £IB3O 9s 3d, and the expenditure to £l2lO 9s Id. For the winter meeting the receipts were £IB7O 13s 9d, and the expenses £1270 2s 9d. . i Breeders of horses will be' pleased to hear that the champion hackney stallion. Lord Kitchener will arrive in this district next week to stand the season. H© is not only well-bred, but an ideal hors© for getting weight-carriers and hunters. He is by AJbury, dam Isisis, grand-dam Bijou Isisis, an English hunting mare, imported by the late Mr John Grigg, of Longbeaeh. Lord Kitchener has been awarded 15 first prizes and four specials fon improving weight-carriers and carriage horses. .He has never been beaten in any show ring. His stock are natural jumpers. The horse will be in charge of Mr A. Parsons, stud master, Ormond. :
