POVERTY BAY RUGBY UNION.

The usual weekly meeting of tlio Poverty Bay Itugby Union was held last night. Present: Messrs H. E. Maude (chairman), H. Bright, J. S. Wauchop, J. A. Eaton, G. K. Fasley, and E. L. Maude (hon. sec.) The secretary reported having received quotations for the supply of representative caps, but it was decided that in view of the great expense no caps be ordered. It was decided to inform the Mangatu Sub-Union that the Poverty Bay Union could not send a team to Whatatutu this season. It was resolved that the senior competition be declared closed, and that the junior competition be continued. The three junior teams being equal, a ballot resulted in Kaiti-Citv being drawn to meet United next Saturday, the winning team to meet Y.M.C.A. in the final on the following Saturday. The matches for Thursday are as follows: Gisborne v. Alhambra at 1.45 p.m., and Star v. City at 3 p.m. Permission was granted to the KaitiOity juniors to travel to Napier on September 28th to play a return match with Napier Pirate's, provided a suitable manager be appointed. The secretary of the Association Football Union wrote applying for the use of the Domain on a Saturday afternoon for the purpose of an exhibition game.—The request was held over till next meeting of the Union. No. 1 ground was granted to the Makauri and Kaiti-City third. fifteens for a match next Saturday at 1.45 p.m. The secretary of the Australian League wrote asking for the use of the Domain on Thursday, September 30th. —This request was also held over until next meeting of the Union. A letter was received from the secretary of the Trades and Labor Council asking for the use of the Domain on Labor. Day for the purpose of holding a sports meeting, also suggesting that the Union should attempt to arrange a fancy dress football match. —It was decided to forward the letter to the Cricket Association for the consideration of that body. . _ , ~ An invitation was received from tlio Makauri Football Club, asking the attendance of the members of the Management Committee at the chib’s social to be held at "Waerenga-a-hika on the 23rd prox. * , A number of accounts were passed for payment, and some discussion took place regarding the holding of a-self-supporting smoke social at. which tho trophies won during the season would be presented. . It was decided, after discussion, that the evening of Saturday, October 2nd, be chosen for the entertainment, and Messrs H. E. Maude, E. L. Maude, and J. A. Eaton were appointed a sub-com-mittee to arrange the ncoessaTy details. • 'r 'tr. . REPRESENTATIVE MEDALS. At the meeting of the Poverty Bay Rugbv Union last night, the secretary (Mr E. L. Maude) announced that by the Vote of the members of the representative touring team, the medals -donated by Messrs Douglas Bros, had been won as follows: Best back player, W. Fitzgerald; best forward player J. Beach; best all-round player, H. Tocker.
