FIRST SOLUTION IN THE CRADLES United Press Association —Copyright MELBOURNE, Sept. 14. Speaking on toe defence question, the Minister of Defence said that the first solution for Australia must be sought in the cradles, and the next in a constant stream of over-sea immigration. He hopes the financial arrangement with the States will furnish enough to meet the expense of defence, without further taxation. SYDNEY, Sept. 14. Replying tp criticism of his Dreadnought fund proposals, the Lord Mayor stated that all subscribers of over £IOOO would approve of the scheme.
