THE NAVY AS A CAREER.

We hone that liberal opportunities will be offered to young New Zealanders to embrace a naval career. The present arrangements to enable boys to become seamen are satisfactory enough, but we should be glad to see more facilities offered for capable young New Zealanders to become officers in the Navy. If, as we gather is the case, there is to be a naval school in Sydney it would no doubt meet the case if New Zealanders were allowed to enter there and qualify for the Navy, instead of having to go to Osborne, as at present. Only very well-to-do parents can take advantage of the cadetships at present offered and send their boys to Osborne.—Christchurch ‘Press.’
