THE GAS SUPPLY.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Complaints through the press have frequently appeared in reference to tho supply of gas,-and it ‘is -evident that no action has been taken, bar the advice from individuals unaffected by tho enormous charge for the miserable supply (which still continues). Therefore, may I ask to what period will the public tolerate this treatment to suit the few to whom pur pre-deceased Councillors have evidently given a monopoly? A vendor of cream on Sunday is allowed to sell cream, but should he'sell eggs, which are as beneficial for consumption, he becomes a criminal. If a vendor of fish stands at a corner lie is shifted, and yet vliis extraordinary company of gas escapes the category of the baker who supplies underweight bread, and the milkman whose milk is watered.—l am, etc., D. MURRAY.
