NAPIER GOLF TOURNAMENT. [Per Pr;:3 Association.l NAPIER, Sept. 23 v The annual tournament of the Napier Golf Club was continued to-day, in favorable weather. Some fine rounds were made in the first round of the championship, namely A. Duncan 78 , G. h. I Thorburn 79, Kurepo Tareha 79. H. Kawhi 79, and Kapi Tareha 79,. In the afternoon, in the jdimffe competition, A,. Duncan and Kapi Tareha each made the round in 79. The following are the results of the play in the first round of the championship B. B. E. D. O’Rorke (Auckland), Colonel Tuson (Manawatu) beat A. Strang (Ma* nawatu), Wi Karanema beat S. M. Palmer (Gisborne), G. F. Thorburn beat G. N. Pharayzn. The teams match resulted as follows.: Napier No., 1 team 340, 1; Wellington 343, 2; Napier No. 2 team 361, 3: Manawatu 366, Gisborne 366, Christchurch 369.
The stroke competition was won by E. W. Johnson (Napier), with a gross score of 96, handicap 18, net score 78.
