THE TURF. TE KAEAKA RACING CLUB. The committee of the To Kairaka Racing.C.ub lias decided to rail in the local course throughout its entire length (about 75 chains). In the past horses have had to be kept on the course by means of flags, and on several occasions difficnltief, have arisen through competitors running inside the flags. The fence to be erected is a very substantial one. The posts are to be of totara, nine feet apart. A strong railing will be placed flush with tlip top of the posts, and below the railing six plain galvanised wires. The railing and the gates will be painted white and when completed the fence, besides being of great use will also greatly improve the appearance of the club’s fine property. The work of erecting (the fence is in the capable hands of Mr. Andrew Gregg. Though only in its infancy the Karaka Racing Club is rapidly pushing its way to the fore, and the members are to be congratulated on their enthusiasm. At the club’s next race meeting, January 1, the stakes are to be increased—an improvement that will doubtless be welcomed by owners.
