OIVIL SERVICE SPORTS ASSOCIA TION.
At a general meeting of the Poverty Bay Civil Service Sports Association held last evening Mr. H. Mackintosh was elected vice-president (replacing Mr. T. N. B rod rick, transferred), and Mr. C. Maher was elected committeeman (vice Mr. S. S. Rudman, transferred). The following new members were elected: Messrs Wheeler, Gallop, 80'vander (telegraphs), Roberts (postal), and Bradley (Customs). It was decided to arrange, with the Labor Day Sports Committee, to have two races (100 yards and half-mile) put on their programme. The offer of the old drifts hod for use as a gymnasium was accepted. Mr. Ogilvie’s report of the hockey team’s recent tour weds adopted, and ■the chairman (Mr. Mackintosh) expressed satisfaction at the conduct of the players while away. > It was decided to- ca'l, a meeting of ■those interested in cricket to consider the advisability of forming a junior 'grade cricket team. ! The secretary’s action in arranging •fout-oared races with the Gisborne tSwimming Club and F. Hall and Sons, 'respectively, at the forthcoming regatta, was endorsed.
