LADIES v. GENTLEMEN
The match, Ladies v. Gentlemen, attracted a large number to the links on Saturday afternoon, and created a great deal of interest. The match was played over a 14-hole course (holes 1 and 6 to 18), and the gentlemen , had to concede the ladies a stroke a hole. Twentyfive matches were played, of which the gentlemen won 11 and the ladies 6, while the others finished all square. The games were decided by match play, but no stymies were permitted, as a stroke competition, with sealed handicaps was 'played simultaneously for trophies donated by Mrs. Morgan (for the ladies) and Mr. Morgan (for the meii). Mrs. Barlow secured the first prize among the ladies, a handsome salvermounted scent .bottle, with a score of 79 from the scratch mark, while Mrs. Cole (86—4 —82) and Mrs. Traill (91— 9—82) tied for the second prize (a dainty trinket box), and will probably play off for the trophy. G. M. Lodgshun (66 —scr —66) and N. Bull (73 —7 —66) tied for the men’s trophy, and decided possession by tossing, the spin of the coin favoring the scratch man. W: Gibson (75-S—67), R.
