BOWLING.
THE GAME IN WELLINGTON. The bowling season in Wellington was opened by the newly-formed To Hiwi Club at Island Bay on Saturday last. Wellington and Kelburne Clubs will open next Saturday, Victoria and Thorndon on 9th October, Newtown Club on Labor Day (13th October), and the Hutt Club on 16th October. The Karori Club has not yet fixed a date. Khandallah expects to get on to its new green about the end of the year, and Johnsonville Club is sanguine of an early opening. The season is lull of interest to bowlers, chiefly on account of the fact that early in the .New Year the Northern Bowling Association s tournament will be played there. The tournament will no longer, as in the past, be a contest between two nn'ks only from each club. Under the “opendoor” policy lately decided on, each club can send as many or as feiv links as it likes, but another alteration recently agreed upon is an increase or the entrance fee to 12s fid a player 19s for entertainment and 2s fid to the association.
