BOWLING.
TUBANGftNUI CLUB. A meeting of the Match Committee of the Turanganni Bowling Club was held in the club’s pavilion on Saturday afternoon. The business was to arrange for the commencement of the season's matches. After discussion it was resolved to take entries for the Douglas Feathers and the Jersey Cabbage Walking Stick immediately after the opening of the season, the entries to close on Thursday week, October 14th. The conditions under which those two competitions are to be played was considered, and the following conditions were adopted, to come into operation when the winners %f the opening competition are declared: — Douglas Feathers. —l. Challenge Pairs shall be played for the Feathers presented by Mr. W. IT. Douglas. 2. The holders of the Feathers shall be open to challenge upon one' week’s notice being posted on the board by the challenging pair. 3. The holders shall not be challenged more than once in any one wee'k. 4. In the event of a challenging pair being defeated, neither of such pair shall be allowed to again challenge until the holders have been challenged by some other pair. 5. Upon a pair challenging the holders, such pair shall deposit the sum of sixpence each with a member of the Match Committee. 6. All games shall bo of 21 heads. 7. The Feathers are to be held bv the winners in trust for the club. In the event of such Feathers being lost, damaged, or destroyed, such Feathers shall be replaced by the holders at the time being. 8. For the purpose of this competition, the Match Committee shall divide the members of the club into two classes each year, Nos. 1 and skips. When challenging, a skip shall select as his partner a player from the No. 1 class, it being ipeligible.for any two skips to play together as partners. Jersey Cabbage Walking Stick. —1. The holder of the Stick shall be open to challenge at all times on receiving one day’s notice, such notice to lie posted on the club’s notice board. The holder, may. however, waive Ins right to the proper notice if he so desires, o The challenger shall at all times pay a challenge fee of One Penny, siich sum to he paid on the challenge being made. 3. All games' shall be of six bonds’ only. In the event of a tie an extra head must be played. 4. The holder of the Stick shall take oroper care of such trophy, he holding it as a trust property of the club. 5. All sums accruing from challenge fees shall, on the completion of the season, _be handed over to the Gisborne Hospital as a donation from the club. 6. The conmetition shall at all times be subject to the control of the Match Committee.
