MAGISTERIAL.
MONDAY, OCTOBER 4. (Before Mr W. A. Barton, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Two first offenders were charged with the above offence. The first did not appear and was fined 18s costs 2s, in default 48 hours’ imprisonment, the other being fined os costs 2s, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES. The charge of obtaining a week’s board from C. E. Edmunds under false pretences against Win. Simpson Christie. alias J. W. Murphy, remanded from Saturday, was again called on. C. Smale, employed by Messrs J. It. Redstone and Sons, gave evidence that the accused sought work from him about a month ago. Witness told accused things were slack and referred him to Mr Redstone. The accused said the 'witness was not the man who had said he c<r;uld get a job. . . The accused was remanded xintil Friday in order to allow inquiries to be made.
