BOWLING.
GISBORNE CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the Gisborne Bowling Club was held m the Masonic Club rooms last night. There was a full attendance, and the President (Mr. W. Pettie) was in the chair. Twelve gentlemen were proposed, lor membership. An invitation to attend the opening of the Turanganui Bowling Club's green oft Thursday was received and accepted with thanks. The secretary was instructed to write to the Turanganui Bowling Club wishing them success on the occasion. It was decided to formally open tne season on Thursday, October 21st. Mr. F. W. Eure offered trophies to be competed for in challenge fours. The offer was accepted with thanks, and the Match Committee was requested to draw up regulations for the competition. . The Building Committee reported that there had been a slight delay in the erection of the pavilion owing to a portion of the timber not having come to band as soon as was expected, but it was anticipated that the building would be ready for use early next month. It was reported that the new green would be ready for play in a few days, and that the old green, which has recently been- top-dressed, was also looking very well.
