ROWING.

GISBORNE CLUB. The weekly meeting of the committee of the Gisborne Rowing Club was held ■ last night in the Gisborne. Club, Mr. C. -J. Hamilton (captain) in the chair. Tile following new members were elected : Messrs W. Brown, G. Bousfield, G. iShierlaw, and G. Scott. It was resolved that entries for the first trial fours should close at 6 pan. next Friday, when crews will be selected. Two grades will be rowed, A and B, the latter to row in fixed seated boats. . The entertainment committee presented their report of the Club’s “smoko,” and it was resolved to congratulate them on the excellent manner in which they organised the function. - , , II It was decided that m future all members not strictly conforming to the rules regarding the use of the. boats ' would be very severely dealt with. The Secretary was instructed to write thanking all those who assisted at the opening of the season last week. The Secretary notified that the membership now stood at 130. Mr. A. D. Robinson was appointed to a vacant seat on the committee.

POVERTY BAY CLUB. The committee of the Poverty Bay Rowing Club met at the Cosmopolitan Club last night. Mr J. Webb (captain) presided. The secretary (Mr. Kirk) reported the receipt <jf a* donation of £5 5s from the president (Mr. E. P. Joyce), and £1 Is towards the building fund from Mrs. E. Ledger, who had been elected patroness. Mr. D. E. Dustin, who was formerly a prominent Gisborne rowing man, wrote from Palmerston North thanking the Club for his election as one of the vice-presidents, and hoping to have a spin with them some time during the season. It was resolved to write and formally thank Mr. J. Colley for his assistance in the matter of buying the timber for the new buildings. Tlie resignation of one member was reported, and the following new members were elected: Messrs H. Heiford, Archie Pool. A. .Jackson, J. Walters, J. Patterson, and P. Neilson.
