MANAWATU GORGE,
WEATHER STILL THREATENING.
I Pick Press Association.! PALMERSTON N., Oct. 6
Tlie slips in the Manawatu Gorge are not likely to be cleared to-day, and all trains are transhipping passengers, luggage, and mails. Beyond the delay thus occasioned, traffic is not likely to be interfered with unless further slips come down. The weather is still threatening. WO ORVILLE, Oct. 6. There was a big slip between the two large tunnels in the Gorge last night, and it blocked the evening train from Palmerston. This was cleared during night, but a very large one, 300 yards in length, came down about a mile in the Gorge from the station at the Woodville end. There is no chance of its being cleared to-day, but trains will run to both sides of the slip, and passengers and mails will be transferred.
