NORTHERN WAIAPU SETTLERS’ ASSOCIATION.
THE SECOND MEETING. The. second meeting of the Northern Waiapu Settlers’ Association was held in Te Araroa on Saturday, September 25th, Mr. deLautour presiding. Fifteen new members were elected, bringing the membership up to thirty-eight. It was resolved that a petition be drawn up for presentation to the House urging that the Government should take steps to clothe the lands of the Northern Waiapu with titles, and especially urging that the Appeal Court should deal with the various •blocks which have already passed through the first stages of the Native Land Court: and are now lnmg up pending the hearing of appeals. These blocks total nearly 80,000 acres, namely, Marangairoa No. 2. 4700 acres; Horoera, 15,000 acres; Whakararanui, 8000 acres; Wharekahika, 42,000 acres; Tanatu, 8000 acres. It was resolved to write to the Waiapu County Council asking the Council to form Bee-re’s road into a dray road, and to point out the total absence of road connection with Te Araroa at present.
