CONCLUSION OF THE DIFFICULTY AT WELLINGTON.

The protracted negotiations which have taken place between the Citv Council and the Wellington Gas Company relative to the question r f gas mains in suburbs have been brought to a finality. Under the agreement the Council grants leave to the Gas Company to lay mains to Murainar and neighboring boroughs under the direction, of the Council’s requirements, on payment of £SO a year for 21 years, and thereafter of £IOO a year, unless the Council buys the Gas Company out of Melrose. The Council thereafter, according to the Mayoi, maintains the principle of its control over’ its streets.
