TO CAPTURE THE PASSENGER TRADE.
[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, October 11. Johnston and Co., local agents for the P. and 0. Line, have been advised that three of the largest of the company’s boats will make Auckland a port of call next year. The Malwa (a 11,000-ton vessel, commanded by Captain Tocque) will leave Auckland for England via Sydney on February 16, and will be followed by the Mongolian (11,000 tons, Captain Preston), and the Morea (11,000 tons, Captain Broun), on March 16 and April 13 respectively. The object, it is suggested, is to capture some of the Home and intercolonial passenger trade.
