POVERTY BAY CLUB

A special general meeting of the Povertv Bay Rowing Club was held at the Cosmopolitan Club last night, under the presidency of the Captain, Mr J Webb. There was a large attendance nearly forty members being pre--86 Tlie following new members were elected: Messrs T. Aitkenson, R. Dou g las, A. Bust, J. Corbett, J. Lloyd. R. Wright, W. Tahapa, J .Scott, D. John-

stone, A. Thyer, E. Hines, J. Martin and R. Pearson. Messrs J. Webb, A. Kirk and S. Ledger wero appointed to confer with the Gisborne, Uawa, and Wairoa Clubs to consider the advisability or forming an association apart from tlie Hawke’s Bay organisation. It was decided to give the delegates full power to act in the matter. Apropos of a letter from a local tradesman desiring to acquire a space on the Club’s new shed for advertising purposes, it was resolved not to consent to any such disfiguration of the premises. A letter from Mr F. King accepting nomination as patron and containing; a cheque for £1 Is was received. Mr G. J. Black accepted a vice-presidency and made a similar donation. Mr J. R. Kirk wrote accepting the position of honorary solicitor to the Club. Mr L. B. Sherratt was elected as one of the Club’s vice-presidents. The- following special committee was appointed to act "in conjunction with the management in making arrangements for"" the official opening of the new club house:—Messrs R. Sceats, M. McLeod. F. Airey, E. Roache, T. McConnell, J. Blakely and J. V. Nicolas.

GISBORNE CLUB

The following crews have been ed in the A. grade to go into training for the four-oared races for Mr Henessev’s trophies:—Morning crews: Bayly (str), McLernon, McGonigal, J. Adair; Gully (str), Rogers, Donald, S. Coleman". Evening crews: Warren (str), Rangi, Payne, J. Doyle; P. Hamilton (str), R. Morse F. Parnell, L. Bright; Stephenson (str), Rowe, Quigley, Crawford; C. Hamilton (str), Dobson, Faram, Jeffreys.
