FOOTBALL.
POVERTY BAY RUGBY UNION
The last meeting for the season of the Management Committee of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union was held last night in the Masonic Hotel. Mr PI. E. Maude presided and there was a full attendance of members. A deputation from the Trades and Labor Council waited on the meeting regarding the proposed parade of decorated vehicles at the Domain on Labor Day. . . It was decided to grant permission for the parade, provided no damage be done to the ground. The Secretary of the Wairoa subUnion wrote thanking the Union for generosities displayed to them on the occasion of the recent representative fixture. —Received. Permission was granted to tlie Cricket Association to lay down two chip wickets at the Domain, provided that the ground was left in the same order at tlie end of the season as at the beginning. The Hon. Treasurer of the Takitinni Club notified that the surplus in the accounts of tlie old club would be donated to the Accident Fund. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the Club for its generosity. Notification was received from the Secretary of the late West End Club that a meeting will be held at an early date when the donation of tlieir surplus to tlie Accident Fund would be confirmed. The balance of the accounts for the season were passed, and the Secretary was unanimously voted a bonus. Members spoke in most appreciative terms of Mr Maude’s services to the Union and to football. A lengthy discussion took place on the question of the providing of increased sports’ grounds, not alone for football, but for other sports bodies also. It was ultimately decided that a special meeting of the Union bo held shortly to go throughly into the question.
