A Cingalese fireman deserted from tlie Union Steam Ship Company’s Aparima, at Dunedin the other night, and has not since been heard of. It is understood that the missing fireman had casto, racial or personal objections to occupying quarters -with some other members of the crew ; hence his desertion. A reward has been offered for information as to his whereabouts, and a warrant has also been issued for lus arrest, the shipowners being liable for payment of £IOO under the undesirable immigrant law if he is allowed to be at large. *
