THE TIMBER COMMISSION’S PROPOSALS.
PRQTEST FROM SAWMILLERS. fPiiu Press Association.l OHAKUNE, Oct. 12. A meeting of sawmillers was held here to-day'representing the Randtikei and Waikato districts. A resolution was passed protesting against the alterations suggested by the Timber Commission in the tariff on foreign timber. It was pointed oiit- that local sawmillers will be in a very much worse position if the duty on bulk long length timber is reduced’as suggested. It was resolved that a deputation from the millers be sent to Wellington to wait upon the Government and present their protest.
