THE NEW ALPINE MINE. (Special to “Times.”) GREYMOUTH. Oct. 14. The mine manager’s report on the Neiv Alpine Mine for the week ending 12th October, 1909, is as follows: —No. 4 level was extended 18ft., making the total footage 228 feet north from the cross cut. The stone mentioned in the last report widened out to an average of 2ft 4in., but during the last round or two fired it has pinched and will only average 18 inches in width. Assays taken every day show the values to he decreasing. In the stopes the reef is lying exceptionally flat, both as regards its underlie and strike, and will average 2ft 6in in width, but gives good assay values. One hundred and fifteen tons were paddocked for the week, making the total tonnage to date 397.
