FRIDAY OCTOBER 15. (Before Air, AV. A. Barton, S.AI.) DRUNKENNESS. A first offender was convicted and fined-5s and 2s costs, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment. ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES. In the case against a, man on a chargo of having obtained money from G. AYildish by means of a valueless cheque, Sergeant Hutton stated that the summons had not been served. He said he had reason to know that service was being evaded. His AYorship issued a warrant for tho arrest of the accused. REAIOVING SOIL I'ROAI ROAD. Alatthew Alorgan (Air. Coleman) proceeded against Andrew Hood (Air. Burnard) for having, on August 18th, without authority, removed soil from Russell Street, within the Borough of Gisborne. A plea of guilty was entered, and after Air. Burnard had explained the circumstances, and the evidence of plaintiff and defendant had been heard, His AA’orship inflicted a penalty of £2, with costs amounting to £1 ISs.
