ENTERTAINMENTS

PATHE PICTURES—WRIGHT’S AEROPLANE.

Owing to the late arrival of the Victoria on Saturday night, the Pathe Picture Company were unable to show their new‘programme, but will do so to-night without fail. The star picture to-night will be- “Wright’s Aeroplane in Full Flight,” the first photograph taken from an aeroplane and described as thrilling and fascinating in the extreme. Several splendid scenic films are included in the present programme, and a very beautiful romantic episode, entitled “United by Misfortune.” The industrial pictures for this week are “A Woollen Factory in Sweden” and “Rope Making.” Other features of the programme are “Gaff, King of Detectives,” “Amateur Suake Charmer,” “A Plucky Marathon Winner,” and “The Castaway.” The comics are especially good this week with such as “The Daredevil Motor Car,” “The Schoolboys’ Revenge,” and “Journalistic Types.”

ATHLETIC AND MILITARY DISPLAY. The weather was so unpropitious on Saturday evening that only a comparatively small number of persons attended the Garrison Hall to. witness the second athletic and military display by the Y.M.C.A. members and the Gisborne volunteers. After a considerable number of items had been gone through, Captain Beerc announced that it had been decided to return all . tickets and to give a repeat performance at a later date. This will probably take place during Show week. The entertainment on Saturday night commenced with a turn on the Roman rings by a number of Y.M.C.A. members. under the leadership of Mr. A. W. Watts. This was followed by bayonet drill by a- squad from the volunteers. Bar-drill by the Defence Cadets was next given in a "graceful manner, and .'heartily applauded. B lin'd Ibid boxing, the combatants being Messrs G. Dick and G. Richardson, of the Y.M.C.A., provided much amusement, but not any damage, as the boxers onlyexchanged blows once during their bout. During tho evening a great deal o'f laughter was provider! by the two comic clowns, Messrs P. J. Saunders and N. Bloomfield. The tug-of-war between the Y.M.C.A. and volunteers did not take place, but will he given at tlio next entertainment:
