The- expenditure on emigration has fallen from £40,000 in 1906-1907 to £5170 in 1908-190 S. This is chiefly due to Canada’s restrictions. Otherwise emigration work is satisfactory. Single- men sent to Canada in the first season have already repaid 60' per cent, of the money advanced.
