SYDNEY, October 16. - King scored 43 in the final stage of the King’s Prize, Dewar 40, Clyde 39, and Hadfield 37. Dewar receives £3 and the others £4 each. James won £8 for seventh place. In the shoot-off of the Dangar match Walkem beat Crease by one point. (Received October 17, 5.5 p.m.)

In shooting off with ten others who scored 256 in the King’s Prize match, Dewar won the badge. Porritt (Parramatta) won the champion trophy for the highest aggregate score, 621. At the Rifle Association dinner, General Hoad proposed the toast of the New Zealand team, and said that New Zealand and Australia would stand shoulder to shoulder in the trenches for the integrity of the Empire. Colonel Hughes, in responding, expressed the thanks of the New Zealand team for the good, time they had had in New South Wales, and said he hoped to see Australian teams competing in New, Zealand’s Empire match. (Received October 18, 1.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, October 17. The New Zealand team for the Empire match is: Hawthorn, King, Masefield, Guy, James, Halliday, Hadfield, and Patrick. . Victoria won the 1 Commonwealth match with a score of 1654, Queensland 1646, South Australia 1643, New South Wales 1616, and Tasmania 1615.

AUSTRALIAN TEAM FOR BISLEY

SYDNEY, Oct. 16. At a meeting of the Commonw T ealtli Council of Rifle Associations, it was announced that the Commonwealth Government placed £2OOO on the estimates for sending a team to Bisley next yiear. It was decided, if this ■amount became payable, to despatch a team. It was decided that rear aperture sights be- allowed in the Empire match to be fired at Bisley. The Council expressed an opinion as to the desirability of providing for the manufacture of the territorial rifle at the Commonwealth factory, seeing that such excellent results had already been obtained with the weapon. This was prompted by the fear of construction of a short rifle.
