A STRANGE STATEMENT

LONDON, October 19. The “Daily Chronicle’s” Montreal correspondent reports that a letter was received from Sir J! G. Ward suggesting that South African veterans living in Canada, other than Canadians, should emigrate to New Zealand, -where they would get free land grants. Canada has made free grants to Canadian veterans, but refuses them to others, though 5000 m‘en offered to’ form a reserve.
