The following is the manager’s report on the New Alpine mine for the week ending 9th inst-: —The drive going north was extended 17ft for the week, making a total of 245 ft from the crosscut. The new make of stone recently cut has nearly pinched out. Tiie last sample cut through at 233 ft north assayed lodwt 17grs for an average of loin in width. There is still a good trace, and the stone""is on the hanging wall. In the sbuthr stopes at No. Bwe have got the ena-or the stone at 67ft at the south and middle winze. In No. 1 stope there are two'splices of stone, with a small seam of soft mullock between. The hanging Wall splice 2ft 4in assayed loz 17-Jdwt, and the footwall, Ift Sin in width, assaying 12dwt. Seventy-nine tons were paddocked for the week. All the leakage in the water pipes is not taken up yet. The new pump has been delivered at the mine, and is being placed at No. 14. The old pump at No. 12 is now working splendidly. A new stoping drill has been ordered, and should be a good investment, as the same will do for rising as well as for stoping.
