At the Pure Food Congress the Paris representatives of the French wine trade secured a resolution permitting a percentage of sulphuric acid to be used in the manufacture of wine despite the protest of Professor Gautier, president of tho Academy of Medicine, and the Russian delegate warning the Congress that it would probably result in the exclusion of French wines from Russia.
