DEMONSTRATION IN LONDON. United Press Association— Copyright. LONDON, Oct. 22. The Independent Labor party held a Ferrer demonstration at the Memorial Hall. Dr Clifford moved a resolution condemning the inaction of ‘the British Government during the trial and since. The Rev. R. J. Campbell wrote: “The execution was an atrocious crime against liberty and justice.” RESOLUTION OF WELLINGTON SOCIALISTS. rPicn Press Association.! WELLINGTON, Oct. 24. At a meeting of Wellington Socialists this afternoon, the following resolution was adopted : “This meeting records its deep abhorrence of the official murder of Ferrsr, the Robert Owen of Spain, whose work has been recognised as worthy of wide recognition, and has earned the encomiums of Catholic bishops of the Philippines.” [Robert Owen, philanthorpist, and founder of English Socialism, was born in 1771, and died in 1858. He established two or three socialistic communities, which proved failures. He was, however, an energetic promoter of many movements of acknowledged and enduring usefulness, among them being infant schools, and shorter hours and other reforms in factories, and he was the real founder of the co-operative movement. In his personal character he was without reproach.]
