INSURANCE TROUBLES.
AN ACTION FOR LIBEL. United Peess Association—CoPYßianT. SYDNEY, Oct. 23. An action has been commenced by the Mutual Life and Citizens’ Company against te National Mutual Life Association, claiming £20,000 damages in connection, with certain articles which appeared in the newspaper “Clarion.” The National Mutual Company paid £3OO into court as satisfaction of all claims. MELBOURNE, Oct. 23. The “Clarion” published a series of articles and cartoons severely attacking the Citizens’ Company in connection with the amalgamation, with the Mutual Lfo Co. The_claim of the Mutual Life, and .Citizens’ 1 Company sets out that the National . Mutual Life, by its duly authorised agents, falsely- and maliciously for the purpoe of injuring plaintiff’s business, and increasing its own business, published, the articles ..[complained of as being published by the Clarion. The National Mutual,, while paying £3OO into Court, denied all liability.
