CANADIAN AND BRITISH WARSHIPS TO BE INTERCHANGEABLE. Unituh Pit bh* Association— Coi-VRiaiu (Received October 2G, 9.10 p.m.) LONDON, October 26fc» The “Times” Ottawa reports that the Government propose ti ia t the Canadian warships be interchangeable with the British. If three Canadain cruisers on the Atlantic coast arc attached for training to the British home fleet, three British cruisers would replace the Canadian vessels at tho headquarters at Esquimalt. Similarly there would be an exchange with the ships of the Eastern fleet. The proposal lessens the objection of those Canadians avlio criticise the creation of a baby fleet, and insist on co-opera-tion in the great Imperial fleet. The correspondent adds that if Britain can lend a cruiser for training purposes in time to reach Halifax next spring, Mr Brodeur, Canadian Minister of Marine, proposes to invite educational institutions to nominate picked boys, who will be given a lew' months tranlng before they are asked to enter a qualifying examination.
